At a meeting on the efficient use of Olympic facilities after the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Dmitry Medvedev was briefed on the progress of sports facilities’ construction and heard proposals for their future use.

Ms Golikova reported to the President on the Ministry’s work in 2010 in such areas as support of mothers and children, development of high-tech medical care for children, and pension coverage. 

Dmitry Medvedev reviewed the nation’s socioeconomic development and defined priority areas for 2011.

Socioeconomic development, housing and utilities, and the labour market situation were the subjects of discussion.

Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law amending the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation to guarantee better protection to individuals from the unlawful practice of deferred payment of salaries, pensions, scholarships and benefits.

In particular, the laws determine the amount of compensation for various types of insurance, the procedure for paying compensation to people with disabilities for the purchase of equipment required for rehabilitation and services, and the procedure for providing health resort treatments to certain categories of citizens.

Ms Golikova briefed Dmitry Medvedev on the ministry’s efforts towards realisation of the goals set out in the Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly.

The President inspected classrooms, stopped by Russian, IT and physical education classes, and spoke with teachers and students.

Dmitry Medvedev and the parliamentary parties’ leaders discussed housing and utilities sector reform, the federal budget’s adoption, and preparation of the annual Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly.

During the videoconference, Dmitry Medvedev and the Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area Dmitry Kobylkin discussed the socioeconomic situation in the region, in particular focusing on relocating the residents of dilapidated housing.

Mr Medvedev said that care for senior citizens is one of the state’s absolute priorities, but people of all ages need to realise that looking after senior citizens is a task for the whole of society, including public organisations and business.

The leader of Bashkortostan reported to Dmitry Medvedev on the social situation in the republic and the implementation of social programmes, in particular those aimed at the elderly.

Dmitry Medvedev met with participants in the 3rd Congress of Social Workers and Social Pedagogues.

Dmitry Medvedev approved a list of instructions following a meeting with teachers who won the 2010 Russian Teacher of the Year contest.

Dmitry Medvedev held a videoconference meeting on the reconstruction of housing and social infrastructure in regions affected by forest fires. The meeting also addressed social support for people.

The region's socioeconomic development and the situation in the food and employment markets were discussed.
