Vladimir Putin will take part in meetings of the CSTO Collective Security Council and the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council

Vladimir Putin will take part in meetings of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation’s Collective Security Council and the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on December 23.

At the CSTO Collective Security Council meeting, the presidents of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan will discuss strengthening allied cooperation among the CSTO member countries and current regional affairs. The meeting will also see the handover of the organisation’s presidency from Russia to Tajikistan.

The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council’s meeting will take place at summit level (with the presidents of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan taking part) and will make a number of decisions on practical aspects of the Eurasian Economic Union and its organisations, which begin work on January 1, 2015. The leaders will hold a joint news conference following the meeting.
