The Kazan Aviation Plant, a Tupolev subsidiary, ranks among major Russian aviation industry enterprises and employed 8,400 people in 2023. The plant was modernised, its production and test-flight facilities were rebuilt, and the runway renovated. The design centre features modern equipment. The world’s largest facility for machining titanium parts has been restored.

Today, the Kazan Aviation Plant is preparing to produce new Tu-160M strategic bomber/missile carriers, a new version of the legendary Tu-160 plane. There are also plans to expand production of Tu-214 passenger airliners.
