Vladimir Putin congratulated the personnel of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure (RATS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation on the 20th anniversary of its establishment.
The message reads, in part:
“Over the past years, RATS has won key positions in the SCO system of interstate agencies and become a significant element in the international and regional security architecture. It has proven in practice its effectiveness in addressing an entire complex of issues related to coordination and interaction with SCO countries’ security services in countering terrorism and extremism.
Today your reliable, coordinated and competent work is of particular importance. During a period of geopolitical turbulence and the aggravation of a number of conflicts, it is important to analyse common threats at a high professional level and develop effective measures to neutralise them, as well as actively exchange operational information and jointly systematise the experience gained.
I am confident that SCO Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure personnel will continue to successfully fulfil the tasks they are assigned, help strengthen and expand contacts between our countries’ security services and law enforcement agencies, and make a significant contribution to maintaining stability and security in the SCO space.”
